SETI Radio Analysis

DEEP SPACE

It faithfully reproduces the real observing method of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). The Green Bank 100m radio telescope (GBT) points at a nearby star (e.g., Proxima Cen, TRAPPIST-1), observing in an ABACAD cadence that alternates between the target (ON) and blank sky (OFF) — six scans of 300 seconds each. turboSETI searches for −4 to +4 Hz/s Doppler drift to find narrowband (<3 Hz) signals, filtering out Earth-origin radio-frequency interference (RFI), which also appears in the OFF observations. Signals that persist only in the ON scans remain as candidates (BLC). The overlay shows a dynamic-spectrum waterfall, an integrated power spectrum, ABACAD progress, target-star info, and a list of hits exceeding the SNR threshold.
